Wear Your Green on the Emerald Coast
Wear Your Green on the Emerald Coast
Story by Sarah Murphy Robertson
Luck of the Irish to ya! This week’s 3 for 30A arrives a little early so you can be sure to find the best place to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. And let’s face it, Thursday is practically the weekend, so go ahead and take the time to relax and enjoy this boisterous and spirited holiday. (Everyone is Irish on St. Paddy’s Day!)
All day long (from 12 noon until 10 pm) The Bay will be hosting their second annual St. Paddy’s Day Beach Party. The music lineup includes Billy and the Giant Leprechauns from 12-3 pm, The Courtyard Saint Patricks from 3:30 – 6 pm, and Hotel Oscar will be rocking out from 7 – 10 pm. They will have fabulous Irish-themed food and drink specials on hand all day as well as a Cornhole tournament starting at 2 pm, for $10 with prizes for the winning team.
Also on Thursday, the party will be hopping at Grayton Beer Company from 4-9 pm. They’ll be hosting The Memphis Strange from Austin and serving up yummy Irish fare by Royal Palm Grille. Grayton Beer Company’s Taproom is located at 217 Serenoa Road – just off Hwy 98 – in Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.
Here’s an, ahem, neat idea for St Patrick’s revelry. From 5 pm until 6 pm the newly established NEAT Bottle Shop in Alys Beach is hosting an Irish Whiskey Tasting. Learn about the distillery process and history of whiskey, while tasting several premium selections for just $15 per person.
After work on Thursday, collect the family and head to Baytowne between 6 and 9 pm as they too are getting in the St. Paddy spirit. Enjoy live music by The Blenders and a very special performance by the Drake School of Irish Dance.
So wear your green, sip a cold beer, and do your best jig! March 17th comes but once a year!
