SANDESTIN – Mardi Gras is one of the biggest parties of the year where locals and travelers alike indulge in lively parades, celebrations and traditions. In the heart of Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, The Village of Baytowne Wharf hosts over-the-top Mardi Gras parties.

The festivities begin on Sunday, Feb. 19 at the annual Baytowne Mardi Gras Parade which will fill the Village streets with unique and colorful floats, golf carts, costumed dogs and their humans. From 2 to 5 p.m., Mardi Gras music will fill the air as four-legged friends and parade participants shower the streets with a barrage of beads, Moon Pies and other trinkets.

On Feb. 21, break out your Mardi Gras beads on what many call the most festive day of the year, Fat Tuesday, at the Mardi Gras Street Pardi. Starting at 6 p.m. guests will gather at The Village of Baytowne Wharf for a Village Street Party complete with music by New Orleans soul-funk band Boukou Groove, street performers, entertainers and more. The post-pardi celebration will continue into the night with parties at several Baytowne establishments, including Fat Tuesdays, the ultimate Mardi Gras stop. Grab an iconic New Orleans original daiquiris or any frozen concoction and “laissez les bons temps rouler” (let the good times roll)!

Accommodations are available at nearby Hotel Effie, a pet-friendly hotel with on-site restaurants and spa, or Osprey Pointe, a spacious condo complex complete with separate bedrooms.

ROSEMARY BEACH – The Courtyard at Pescado, located on the ground floor of the Orleans Building in Rosemary Beach, is set to host a Mardi Gras Wine Dinner Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023, at 6:30 p.m.

The coursed menu, created by Chef Preston Trott, will consist of four carefully crafted courses paired with French wines from Breakthru Beverage. WATERCOLOR – The FOOW Supper Club will present its second annual Mardi Gras dinner Thursday, Feb. 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. Enjoy French-inspired cocktails and an authentic New Orleans dinner with FOOW’s prix-fixe Mardi Gras menu. Reservations are required; limited seating available. $95 per person; service charge and sales tax not included.

3 for 30A Celebrates Mardi Gras

This weekend, we say, let the good times roll! In 1837 the first Mardi Gras parade was held in New Orleans and the tradition has grown and thrived for the nearly 200 years since. Also known as Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras refers to the boisterous events of the Carnival celebrations and culminating on the day before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent.

30A is just shy of 300 miles to the east of this legendary week-long New Orleans party – capping off on Tuesday February 9th. But this weekend you’ll have plenty of chances locally to be a part of the revelry without the hassle of a road trip.
For Mardi Gras festivities on Friday February 5th, head to Pier Park for floats, live entertainment, and a fabulous fireworks show at 7:30 pm. Or check out the Mardi Gras fun in Destin Commons with beads flyin’, entertainment by The New Orleans Ramblers, and face painting for the kiddos. Be sure to stick around for the 7 pm parade.

On Saturday February 6th there is more Mardi Gras-style family fun to be had. HarborWalk Village at the Destin Harbor will hold their annual Mardi Gras street party and parade from 2 until 4 pm. Later that night, Local Catch Bar and Grill in Blue Mountain Beach will turn up the music for the third year in a row with Cadillac Willy. The grooving starts at 8:30 pm and will last late into the night.

Sunday February 7th in Seaside the show will get started at noon with face painting and street performers. Then at 2:00 join in the interactive annual parade starring the Village Brass Band. At 2:30, grab a comfy corner on the lawn for a live Donnie Sundal show in the Seaside Amphitheater. Seaside will be abuzz with festivities and recreation that afternoon for sure!
