Did you know there are over 2,000 varieties of cheese? I love cheese and have certainly tried an assortment of cheeses at wine shops and on party platters, but it wasn’t until I gave it up for lent did I realize how much and how often my love of cheese would be challenged. This week’s installment of 3 for 30A is to highlight a few places that will have you craving your favorite melty, creamy, gooey, or sharp cheese dishes.

Friday, March 27 –Along Hwy 30A in the neighborhood of Seaside is a collection of restaurants known as Airstream Row. One of the most popular of these is The Meltdown, a counter service shop featuring an assortment of grilled cheese sandwiches. They have a Classic with American on texas toast, a three cheese blend with gouda, cheddar, and gruyere, but also some very creative options like the Meatloaf Grilled Cheese or the Smokin’ Turkey with bacon and avocado. The Meldown is definitely a must-stop-shop, if not your first-stop-shop, this weekend. Now open all day including breakfast. Saturday, March 28 – When you think of your favorite cheesy dishes, does your mind automatically go to images of pasta, pizza and Italian cuisine? Angelina’s Pizzeria and Pasta in Seagrove Beach serves up fabulous pasta dishes and hand tossed pizzas in a classically styled and comfortable atmosphere. Their hot calzones are stuffed with ricotta, provolone, and mozzarella cheeses. Don’t be shy in ordering their raved about Stromboli or feel free to indulge in some meaty, melty baked lasagna. Sunday, March 29 – Another Broken Egg has undoubtedly perfected the art of a southern breakfast. From Egg-Straordinary Omelets, Benedicts, and Brunches to salads, sandwiches and burgers, there is certainly something for everyone. The Baked Brie delight, however, is the perfect way to begin your cheese-loving day. This deliciously gooey treat comes baked with apples, pecans, and raisins that have been sautéed in a Grand Marnier butter sauce, and is served with toasted French bread.
