3 for 30 “Post Mardi Gras Edition”
By Natalie Haddock
Mardi Gras is over and Fat Tuesday has passed. For many that means the end to guilty pleasures and time to get back to the New Year’s resolutions of eating right and making healthy choices. Perhaps you are giving up something you crave for lent such as cheese, fried food, or even chocolate. Whatever your motivation, this installment of 3 for 30A is to introduce a few lighter meal options along the beach for a clean start come spring.
Friday, February 20 – Along the roadside of 30A in Seaside is an eclectic collection of small restaurants set up in freestanding Airstream trailers with counter service. One such restaurant is Raw and Juicy, a juice bar promoting a vegetarian and vegan lifestyle along with alternative and holistic health products. Stop by and try one of their organic salads or some of their “raw chocolate” made with melted cow butter, maple syrup, salt, and dark pure chocolate. Raw and Juicy is open daily from 8am to 4pm. http://www.rawandjuicylife.com/raw—juicy-locations.html

Saturday, February 21 – For The Health Of It is a natural food grocery store and juice bar in Blue Mountain Beach. It has nearly everything you could want in organic, natural foods and certified organic produce. Try one of their 9 selections from the juice bar such as Rachel’s Remedy with lemons, beets, apples, ginger, kale, spinach, carrots, and cayenne. There are also seventeen smoothie options to wet your whistle, or just shoot back a quick shot of healthy wheatgrass. For more information visit http://www.shopforthehealthofit.com/
