New Year’s Eve on 30a
Story by Sarah Murphy Robertson
Year round locals and visitors of 30A know how to enjoy life and find fun. The holiday season is no exception and to cap it all off is New Year’s Eve! We’ve put together a few ideas around town that are sure to put smiles on your faces. Celebrate the end of a terrific 2015 and the beginning of a wonderful year ahead here on 30A!
Folks of all ages gather each year for an annual tradition: the Seaside Countdown. It starts at 6 pm with live music and tents set up with children’s art projects and activities. All of your favorite Seaside restaurants and eateries are open for dining and the town is joyful and glowing. The fun culminates at midnight with spectacular fireworks over the water: a display fitting of this idyllic backdrop!
Another great choice for New Year’s Eve merriment is Marie’s Bistro in Blue Mountain Beach. Musicians Matt & Aly will perform during dinner service from 6 – 9 pm. Then Nashville artist Kate McRae will take the stage beginning at 9:30pm. Her incredible voice and musical style of country with rock, pop, and blues influences will have you and yours dancing and smiling. Reservations are recommended by calling 850.278.6856.
But tons of fabulous live music is offered literally up and down 30A on New Year’s Eve. Start early by visiting the Highlands House in Santa Rosa for their $10 special of a house made burger and Grayton draught beer and tunes by Dan McNeil between 4 and 10 pm. Or stop by Stinky’s Fish Camp in Dune Allen for their amazing seafood and cocktail creations and the ever-popular band, Running of The Bulls. Another hot spot will be locals’ favorite: spirited sets from the Red Bar Jazz Band in Grayton Beach.
However you choose to ring in the new year, please be safe and smart and enjoy yourselves! Here’s to a 2016 filled with good food, wine, and holiday cheer from 30afoodandwine.com!
