3 for 30a – Up to New Tricks!
Up to New Tricks
Story by Sarah Murphy Robertson
The kids are back in school, your pre-holiday rhythm is finally returning, and maybe you are working on some, dare I even mention the word, resolutions? Many of us indulged over the break and are now committed to revamping our routines in 2016. This week’s 3 for 30A will focus on a few ways to mix it up and try something different as we begin the new year.
Our area is graced with moderate temperatures year-round and our first tip for this coming weekend is to get out and enjoy the sunshine at one of our local farmers markets. Both Saturday and Sunday boast options, so find a convenient location near you and access delicious, fresh produce and goods sourced from local farms and vendors. On Saturday between 9 am and 1 pm, Seaside Farmers Market tents will line the Seaside Amphitheater, as they will at the Grand Boulevard Farmers Market – on the lawn between Cantina Laredo and Tommy Bahama. The Farmers Market in Rosemary Beach is held on Sunday from 9 am to 1 pm as well. It will quickly become your favorite new weekend custom.
You’ve no doubt built many an evening around dinner and a movie. But this Saturday try a twist on that standard date night formula with a meal at any one of Seaside’s fabulous restaurants and then heading over to the theater. The Seaside Repertory Theater also known as “The REP” is a true gem in our community. They are the only professional theatre company on 30A and this Saturday is a one night only event you shouldn’t miss. The Six Sided Man is a dark comedy created by master playwrights and collaborators since the 80s, Nicholas Collett and Gavin Robertson. This show sold out in Kansas City and broke ticket sales records in London. It is poised to be an amazing experience here on 30A! Located at 216 Quincy Circle in Seaside, call the box office to secure your tickets at 850.231.0733
Speaking of trying something new, go ahead and extend your weekend into Monday to experience the highly anticipated grand opening of Trebeache in Blue Mountain Beach. On Monday, Jan 11th between 6 and 11 pm, they will host the fundraiser “Taste of Trebeache” to benefit the South Walton Artificial Reef Association. This fun-filled event will include yummy food and drinks, a raffle, screening of the NCAA National Title game, live music by TKO Show and Old Bull Young Bull with Special Guest Balder Saunders and Friends. Support a great local cause and get an exclusive sneak peek all at once! Then on Tuesday, January 12th, Trebeache restaurant will officially open for dinner service at 5 pm. Reservations are recommended and can be made by phoning 850.937.7793.
