3 for 30a Seafood!!!!
By Natalie Haddock
Summer time is seafood time here along the Gulf Coast and that means plates full of fresh shrimp, grouper, snapper, tuna, and crab. And while 30A offers many wonderful options for finding Gulf freshness and flavor, this installment of 3 for 30A lists a few restaurants along the corridor that really know how to reel it in.
Friday, June 26 – If you start your weekend at Goatfeathers Seafood Restaurant, you might find yourself full up and stocked up on seafood for the rest of the week! This casual restaurant with large portions and homey atmosphere is a local favorite for lunch, dinner, and late night. Grab a table by the “water windows” or get comfortable posted up at the bar, but be sure to come hungry because Goatfeathers piles on the seafood. Start with their delicious fresh caught crab claws or dive into to some shrimp and scallops. If you prefer to prepare a fresh catch yourself stop into the market downstairs and pick up your Gulf favorites. To view their menu, or for hours and information, download the 30AFoodandWine app or visit www.goatfeathersseafood.com
Saturday, June 27 – Spend all day Saturday laying on the beach and swimming in the surf at Seaside, but when your stomach starts growling and the kids get fussy, trot up to the Shrimp Shack, a beachfront seafood steamer with all your lunch and dinner fix’ns. If you’re looking to pick up a few quick sandwiches and head back out, try the Florida Lobster Roll on a toasted bun with warm butter or the Shrimp Salad Roll. Everyone might also want to share in some delicious Apalachicola Oysters or peal and eat Deep Water Royal Red Shrimp. Seafood items are available by the pound to take back home or place your order at the counter and take a seat either on the porch, the deck, or at the beachside pavilion.
Sunday, June 28 – No visit to the Gulf Coast beaches is complete without a po’boy or Bloody Mary from Stinky’s Fish Camp. Don’t let the name fool you, Stinky’s seafood is fresh, the crew is friendly and the atmosphere fabulous! This Sunday stop in for brunch 10am – 3 pm for a little Louisiana kick to your morning with Grits and Grillades or a Crawfish Omelet. Enjoy live jazz music from 11am – 2 pm as you sip on the best $10 Bloody Mary, adorned with celery, olives, pickled okra, green beans, and a cocktail shrimp. Oysters are available all day and in all ways including baked, steamed, fried, and in shooters. Connect to Stinky’s on the 30AFoodandWine app or visit www.stinkysfishcamp.com for more info.
