Labor Day weekend is upon us and that means the last hurrah of summer season. Down on 30A we like to go out with a bang and this weekend does not disappoint. This week’s installment includes a few suggestions on where to enjoy the Labor Day festivities including food, fashion, football, and fireworks!
Friday, September 4 – As summer comes to an end the Seaside community invites us all to celebrate the season in style. This weekend Seaside will be presenting The Merchant’s Sidewalk Sale from 10am-6pm with great discounts offered at your favorite local boutiques and galleries. And if all that shopping leaves you hungry and tired, Barefoot BBQ along Airstream Row is sure to “knock your socks off” with its hormone-free, steroid-free, antibiotic-free beachside BBQ . It’s summer soul food that will have you cozy and ready for the evening’s Central Square Cinema presentation, Newsies, beginning at 8pm.
Saturday, September 5 – The Hub will be kicking off football season with the largest tailgate party on 30A. Come early to catch your favorite SEC team battle it out on the 25ft LED Jumbo-Tron as you chow down on all day food and drink specials. In addition to the five flavorful restaurants open around the Hub, the tailgate will also be offering grilled wings and keg beer. If you’re staying late, feast on delicious new shrimp po’boys from Red’s Chicken Shack or a hearty burger from Crave and gather around the central fire pit for socializing and live music.
Sunday, September 6 – This Sunday Alys Beach will be celebrating the Labor Day weekend with live music by blues artist Will Tucker and a fireworks show after sundown. This free event will take place from 6-9pm at the amphitheater so come by with a blanket and the kids! Piper’s food truck will also be on site featuring “American Menu” favorites such as the Meatloaf Burger made from beef tenderloin mix and served with lettuce, tomato, red onion, a “special sauce”, and served on a potato roll. Beer, wine, water, soda, and juices are also available.
