3 for 30a- Dining, Dancing, Date Night
By Natalie Haddock
Like the changing tides, our cravings change constantly. Are we thinking live music and cocktails? How about a quiet, intimate dinner? Maybe all you really want is to pig out on the sweet stuff. Thankfully, 30A has it is all. So whether you are looking to get out and socialize, have a romantic dinner for two, or get a sugar fix, this week’s installment of 3 for 30A will help you find the food to fit your mood.
Friday, July 24 – If you’re seeing red this Friday night it can only mean a good time dining and dancing at the Red Bar in Grayton Beach. This funky, fun restaurant is a 30A legend. Locals, visitors, and occasionally a few celebrities are seen lining up for a night of good food and fabulous flare. The atmosphere is eclectic to say the least and the menu is short and savory. Options include Penne Chicken, Baked Eggplant with Shrimp and Scallops, and cheesy stuffed Manicotti. Once the dinner crowd thins out, the music kicks up and the Red Bar becomes the hottest dance scene near the surf. Check out their menu and music by visiting www.theRedBar.com or on the 30Afoodandwine.com app today!
Saturday, July 25 – This Saturday the Pearl in Rosemary beach is hosting Date Night, a lesson in sushi rolling and sake tasting. To create good sushi, it takes skill and technique to create the perfect balance of flavors. Couples can enjoy a fun hands-on lesson with Chef Jeremy Williamson as he guides you though fish and ingredient selection, the preparation and perfect sushi rice, and art of the perfect roll. There will also be a tasty selection of sakes to sample. Cost is $35 per person and reservations are encouraged. Check out Date Night at the Pearl 5:00pm – 7:00pm.
Sunday, July 26 – Stay sweet this Sunday and check out the Sugar Shak in Rosemary Beach. It’s the candy store with ice cream and more. They have everything from giant 5lb gummy bears to home made cakes and cookies. Gourmet truffles are always a hit and the favorite this week is the “Turtle Milk Truffle” with caramel, pecans, and a dark chocolate coating. To really satisfy that sweet tooth, ask for “The Belly Ache”, a mound of ice cream bigger than our sand dunes. This specialty concoction includes 16 flavors of Eddy’s Ice Cream and comes loaded with toppings including sprinkles and hot fudge. The Sugar Shak is open every day 10am-10pm so bring the kids, or stop by and spoil yourself.
