3 for 30a
By Natalie Haddock
Although many of us are excited about our chance to take back the beach this weekend, it looks like Mother Nature is making plans of her own, threatening a few scattered thunderstorms and showers over the area. That’s okay though, it’s about time for some wet weather meals anyway! This weekend’s edition of 3 for 30A is all about our favorite hot, hearty, and sometimes heavy meals that truly satisfy the insides, even when it doesn’t look so pretty outside.
Friday, September 11 – Rain or shine, Stinky’s Fish Camp is sure to have you feeling good this Friday. In addition to their famous hot gumbo, spicy Bloody Mary’s, and crazy oyster options, Stinky’s will also be hosting their 8th Annual Local’s Party. From 5:00 to midnight enjoy drink specials and festival food with a free pig pickin at 10pm. Kenny Olivario & Smilin’ Fritz will be playing live at the bait shack from 6pm – 9pm, and then Dikki Du & the Zydeco Krewe will play out the night 9pm -12am. So get your tongue and toes excited for the festivities and come out to Stinky’s! More information can be found on Stinky’s Facebook page or by downloading our 30Afoodandwine.com app.
Saturday, September 12 – For a hearty lunch or dinner this Saturday stop into Louis Louis off Hwy 98 in Santa Rosa Beach. If you like the atmosphere and menu of the Red Bar in Grayton, you are going to feel right at home at this sister restaurant, featuring favorites like Penne Chicken, Crab Cakes, and the Pasta with Shrimp and Crawfish. Lunch specialties include meatloaf, burgers, and “Louis gone Cuban”. The low lighting and healthy portions may have you fearing a food-coma, but don’t worry, afternoon naps are completely acceptable (once you get home, of course).
Sunday, September 13 – On Sunday, snap out of those doldrums and snap into some crab legs! Bayou Bills offers a Crab Feast that includes 4lbs of Snow, Dungeness, and Blue crab legs, served with locally farm picked corn on the cob and new potatoes. Also pick from steamed or broiled shrimp, scallops, fish, and oysters. And for those really looking to catch some heat, pick from chargrilled dinners like Hickory Smoked Ribs or Bill’s New York Strip. Their Santa Rosa Beach location is located on the north side of Hwy 98, just west of Louis Louis. Call for reservations or stop in from 5pm-10pm.
