Alys is Wine-derland
Story by Sarah Murphy Robertson
Year round our area hosts some stellar wine events attracting wine connoisseurs and visitors from all over the country. This coming weekend is no exception on the Eastern end of town. Be sure to check out the 30 Wine Festival at Alys Beach benefiting Children’s Volunteer Health Network and enjoy all their many planned events and revelry.
On Friday March 11th between 4:30 and 5:30 pm, Fonville Park will be hosting “Sip ’n Slide” with Master Distiller Richard Stabile of Long Island Spirits and Cameron Rollo of Victory Brewery showcasing their spirits. These sips will pair beautifully with tasty sliders prepared by the talented crew of Caliza Restaurant and the event is $25 per person.
Then from 6:00 until 9:00 pm head on over to Kelly Green at Alys Beach for “Bourbon, Beer, & Butts.” As its name astutely describes, this event will feature the finest bourbon, craft beer, and barbecue, as well as foot tappin’ live music. Tickets are only $75 per person!
Tickets are still available for Saturday March 12th’s Grand Tasting event and seminars. For $225 you can enjoy an entire day of superior wines tasting from world renown vintners and an array of delicious gourmet small bites.
If you went ahead and got a weekend pass to soak in all the Wine Festival fun, then you will be delighted by the laughs to be had on Sunday March 13th. The Rosé and Croquet Tournament is held from 11:30 – 3:30 and includes brunch complete with elegant Rosé wines, a fabulous Bloody Mary bar, and local artisan treats. Tournament registration information will be posted on site during the wine festival and you must have a team of four to participate. Weekend passes are $350.
We’re confident you’ll have a terrific time at any or all of these exclusive events. And remember, the 30A Wine Festival at Alys Beach benefits the local charity, Children’s Volunteer Health Network, an organization who provides medical and dental health care to kids in need. What a great way to help out a great cause! For more information or to secure your tickets visit www.30awinefestival.com.
