George’s in Alys Beach was established in 2008, and the beautiful plates of food they serve have been wowing guests ever since. Boasting a menu of progressive southern coastal cuisine, they really aim for one simple bottom line: delicious food. They take great care of the ingredients entrusted in them and the seasonal menus are chef-driven and true works of art. Whether you choose to be disciplined or decadent; none will disappoint.
Voted #1 Hot Spot for a Healthy Meal from 30A.com in 2015, George’s has a “Behave” side to their menu that is never short on creativity. The focus isn’t solely on being healthy, but on using whole foods and fresh, real ingredients. Their Thai-inspired Spicy Salt and Pepper Shrimp includes melon, sugar snaps, basmati rice and is fresh, flavorful and nothing short of genius. Guests also lose their minds for the Jerk Crusted Gulf Snapper served with roasted plantains and pineapple salsa. It is sweet and spicy nirvana.
The “Misbehave” side of the menu is created with equal care and quality. When guests are looking to splurge a little, the acclaimed fried grouper sandwich beckons. If you want to really live it up, George’s Famous Fries are aptly named and a must-have as golden crispy potatoes are topped with succulent pulled pork, Asian pear relish and a wasabi ginger sesame drizzle. Case closed.
These stellar preparations are a direct result of devoted relationship building with local fishermen and farmers. George’s chef and staff know exactly which farms the ingredients they use come from. They even frequently communicate with the captains of the boats their seafood comes in on. Covey Rise Farms out of Louisiana send their trucks to George’s twice a week. The pork served at George’s is raised at Chappapella Farms and the chicken from White Oaks Farm. Likewise, beef is sourced fresh from family farms in Georgia and Alabama. So you see, for George’s it isn’t just about what they are serving, but where the food came from.
These regular deliveries inspire the menu and ensure the innovation and creativity their dishes are known to embody. If the menu lists braised greens the chef may choose seldom-used yet tender young broccoli leaves for this application. Guests of George’s appreciate learning a little about a product they likely haven’t experienced beforehand, and George’s chef is eager to educate and inform.
Whether you are a local or a visitor, on or off your diet, looking for a light bite or filling feast; the flare and fare you’ll find at George’s in Alys Beach is second to none. Open every day except Sundays for lunch and dinner, get there early and savor every single bite.
